Browser support statement

This statement applies to web browsers that are being used on desktop versions of Windows and Mac OS. It also applies to the default browsers installed on popular smartphones and tablets.

“Browser support” means that websites built by Bookswarm display correctly and are useable. Not all web browsers will render web pages in exactly the same way, but we will ensure the websites we produce look as close to the agreed design as possible on all of the latest browsers.

Desktop browser support

We support all modern browsers (released in the past 3 years). These will cover the great majority of Internet users:

  • Internet Explorer 10+
  • Firefox 28.0+
  • Chrome 31.0+
  • Safari 5.0+

Note: Older versions of the above browsers will still display our websites, but expect mixed results as they may interpret HTML, CSS and javascript differently.

Mobile browser support and testing

We support the following browsers on iOS and Android devices:

  • iOS Safari 7.1+
  • Firefox for iOS (latest)
  • Chrome for iOS (latest)
  • Android browser 4.4+
  • Firefox for Android (latest)
  • Chrome for Android (latest)
  • Internet Explorer Mobile 11+

We test our websites on as many actual mobile/tablet devices that we can. At the moment this includes: iPhone 6, iPad air, iPad 2, Nexus 7, Nexus 6P and Hudl. We also test using software that simulates various different screen sizes to make sure the website looks good and is useable. Nothing is as accurate as testing on actual devices, but it would be impossible for us to test on them all. We feel we have the most popular smartphones and tablets covered.

Special requirements

If you have specific browser compatibility requirements (for instance, because of corporate IT standards) then you should make us aware of them as early as possible during the course of the project.
