The Whitefriars Club

The Whitefriars Club is one of the oldest literary dining clubs in London, dating back to 1868. They meet eight times a year for dinner at the Savile Club, where they invite prominent cultural or political figures as their guests to speak about their careers or the important topics of the day. The club prides itself on the warm, inclusive and convivial atmosphere it offers to all its members and guests.

The website allows interested users to discover more about the club, while members can log in to book tickets for events, purchase items from the club shop and view the ever-expanding club archive.

“Working with Simon and Alex at Bookswarm has been a tremendously positive experience. Together we were able to go from inception to implementation in a matter of weeks. The process was smooth and pleasurable, and the result exactly what we had set out to achieve. I never felt that any of my awkward requests would go unanswered: there was always a solution. and it was delivered with good cheer. What a lovely company to work with!”

Alessandro Gallenzi, Honorary Secretary, The Whitefriars Club

The Book Society

The Book Society (formerly known as the Society of Bookmen) is a club for professionals in the book trade, publishers, booksellers, literary agents, librarians and authors. Membership is exclusively by invitation from the Society’s committee.

The new website brought in a fresh new design as well as streamlining the member experience for membership renewal and event booking.

“Working with Simon and Bookswarm was fantastic. They rebuilt and streamlined our ageing website including complex back-end booking systems with speed, aplomb and great value. The site looks brilliant and gives us the fresh and modern outlook we’d been hoping for. In short, we are delighted to work with them and look forward to doing so in future.”

Michael Bhaskar, Chair, The Book Society

The Society of Young Publishers

The Society of Young Publishers is a volunteer-run organisation supporting junior and aspiring publishing professionals across the UK and Ireland, open to anyone, of any age, interested in publishing or a related trade – or who is hoping to be soon.

Their new website uses WordPress and Paid Memberships Pro to deliver a seamless member experience, with the website providing members with access to the Resource Centre, InPrint magazine and member discounts.

The Book Marketing Society

The Book Marketing Society was launched in November 2004 with the objective of becoming the representative body of marketing within the book industry. We created the second version of this site in 2018 using an online membership site, including a members area where logged-in users can access a database of award-winning book marketing case studies.

The William Morris Society

The William Morris Society was founded in 1953 to make the life, work and ideas of William Morris (1834-96) better known. Morris was an artist, designer, craftsman, writer and socialist who was a revolutionary force in Victorian Britain.

We designed a new website for the Society, launched on its 60th birthday, working with a new brand identity designed by Pentagram.

“From the very beginning Bookswarm fully understood our brief. We felt completely at ease working with, and handing over to them, and feel that they have helped above and beyond what we would have expected. The dedication and creativity that they brought to the initial meetings enthused us with confidence and the beautiful, clear and practical site that they have created for us reflects William Morris’s aesthetic and approach perfectly. We are beyond happy with the work they have done and would recommend working with them to any interested party – we felt supported and treated as individuals and no question was too small!”

Alice Woodhouse, Society Manager, The William Morris Society

Royal Society of Literature

For nearly 200 years, the Royal Society of Literature has celebrated and nurtured all that is best in British literature, past and present.

Bookswarm has created a new responsive website to allow them to showcase their work and the great names among the RSL Fellows.

This was updated in 2017 to reflect the launch of the RSL’s Literature Matters campaign.

“Working on our new responsive site with Bookswarm has been an absolute joy. Simon and team have realised our brief perfectly, keeping the look and feel of our previous site whilst refreshing it and adding new, interesting features. They have been patient with us, as we are a small team, and understanding of our particular needs.”
