The Academy of New Zealand Literature / Te Whare Mātātuhi o Aotearoa is a writer-led initiative developed to help New Zealand’s active practitioners sustain themselves – creatively, intellectually, psychically, practically – through a writer’s life.
Bookswarm developed the brand identity for the Academy and applied it to new website that was designed to present a contemporary picture of the New Zealand literary scene.

Aimer Media
Aimer make apps and work with book publishers to be part of the response to the challenge of digital in publishing. They’ve found that existing forms of publication contain much more structure and “cleverness” than can be seen on the printed page and work with publishers to make great apps.
Bookswarm created a new, responsive website for Aimer to showcase their extensive portfolio, including integration with Apple’s App Store API to automatically pull through app icons, prices and more.

Bloody Scotland
Bloody Scotland established itself as the leading Scottish International Crime Writing Festival in 2012 with acclaimed writers Lin Anderson and Alex Gray at the helm, then joined by Craig Robertson and Gordon Brown. Based in Stirling, Bloody Scotland has brought hundreds of crime writers new and established to the stage with always enthusiastic attendees who make the festival every bit as much as the writers do.

Books from Scotland
BooksfromScotland showcases the best books of Scottish interest around, including the latest children’s, fiction and selected non-fiction titles, as well as titles from publishers based in Scotland.
Bookswarm developed a new Books from Scotland brand identity and a new website to showcase the Scottish titles, as well as developing a technical strategy to help easily identify which titles should include, based on processing of bibliographic data from Nielsen.

Bounce Sales & Marketing
Bounce Sales & Marketing represent 40 independent children’s publishers to the trade both in the UK and overseas. From beautiful, award-winning picture books to bestselling YA fiction, colourful early learning board books to fun and insightful reference and non-fiction titles, Bounce has a children’s book for every age and every taste, while helping booksellers discover hidden gems and give their customers a bespoke range of titles perfect for their communities.
The website we created for Bounce is designed to make it as easy as possible for their customers – booksellers, libraries, schools – to place orders and request materials from their client publishers. The emphasis is on making these transactions as quick and painless as possible.
The bibliographic information in the website is drawn from the Supafolio system.

Byte The Book
Byte The Book’s network helps its members make useful connections within the book industry and other allied industries and enables them to understand their publishing options and become more literate in the business of books.
Their new website allows members to join and manage their membership online, update their public profile online, and use the members-only message board to network with their peers.

The Carmelite Prize is an exciting award created to recognise excellence in children’s book illustration, with the aim of encouraging and inspiring the next generation of illustrators for children’s stories.
We created a microsite for Hachette Children’s to promote the prize and allow budding illustrators to enter.

Cityread London
Cityread London is an annual celebration of literature that aims to bring reading to life for the whole capital. Each April, Cityread asks London’s citizens, workers and visitors to pick up a book – the same book – and read it together. Taking the chosen novel as a starting point, a month-long programme of book groups, film screenings and other events takes place across all 33 London boroughs in libraries, bookshops, museums and other venues.

Library 21 visualisation
Working with The Literary Platform Collective for The Reading Agency, our brief was to create a visual journey through Library 21 that would support their conversations with partners, developers and funders.
Our work included:
- Creating use cases and user journeys based on the findings in the report
- Commissioning illustrations of the user journeys including key elements of the user experience and the environment
- Creating an infographic that presented key data included in the report
- Working with TLP to publish these – together with their drawings of technical schema and key system interfaces – as a coherent narrative, which we did using the Creatavist platform

Libreria Inventory Management
Bookswarm created a bespoke Point-of-Sale and stock management system – Libreria Bookscanner – powered using WordPress and its popular WooCommerce plugin. Stock is added using a barcode scanner, with book details and covers downloaded in real time from Nielsen’s BookData web services.
Libreria, a new book shop, printing press, and interdisciplinary community space, merges state of the art design and technology with a fresh enthusiasm for physical bookselling. From Rohan Silva and Sam Aldenton, the founders of Second Home, the iconic East London space for entrepreneurs and creative businesses, Libreria blends the best of the digital and analogue worlds.

We created a simple website to showcase recent titles published by UPG presses, and highlight positive review coverage, as well as making it easy for anyone to download catalogues.

The William Morris Society was founded in 1953 to make the life, work and ideas of William Morris (1834-96) better known. Morris was an artist, designer, craftsman, writer and socialist who was a revolutionary force in Victorian Britain.
We designed a new website for the Society, launched on its 60th birthday, working with a new brand identity designed by Pentagram.
